 penAI’s ChatGPT was briefly down on September 3, 2025, with users experiencing errors where the chatbot was “not displaying responses.” Now, the service has been restored. According to OpenAI’s status page, the issue has been resolved and everything is operational again. 

What Happened                   

  • Users worldwide—including in India—reported that ChatGPT stopped responding to prompts. 

  • OpenAI acknowledged the outage, confirmed they identified the cause, and worked to resolve it. 

  • Downdetector captured a spike in outage reports around the same time. 

  • ChatGPT, along with related services like APIs and Sora, are now back up and running globally. 

  • Downdetector and the OpenAI status page now indicate normal operations. 

What You Can Do Next

  • Try refreshing the page or restarting your browser if things still aren't loading properly for you.

  • If issues persist on your end, consider checking  for live updates.

  • Clear your browser cache or disable extensions temporarily—it might help if the problem was browser-related.
